Ming Da - Meixing MC 66 AE tube headphone amplifier

Headphone amplifiers information search is a very simple task with Google.Two pages is more than enough to hold the worldwide market!  Given the proliferation of mp3 player i thought to find much more items, expecially high-quality products. Audiophile's products seems the odd solution here but unfortunately theirs prices are so discomfort for me :-)

A visit to Head-Fi is then mandatory! I have discovered the Ming Da - Meixing Chinese firm here. In the online catalog my eyes are only for this:

Here in Italy there are plenty of stories about scarcely sufficient quality of chinese products. These are strictly related to 20 year ago or so when a few chinese firms began to assembly as subcontractors european low quality products. Today the story is a bit different. However some retail dealers here in Italy largely supports these fakes and advise potential customers against chinese products; there is a sort of "economical protectionism" suited to enlight products they instead as usual sell, obviously at much high prices. Ming Da - Meixing firm story is of this sort. They have assembled european tube products for a while and now they have choose to build their own.

Fortunately there is an italian distributor (Audiocostruzioni) so that after few mails and few days item arrive to my home.

Sound quality are quite impressive! I've compared it with the Arcam Diva A75 PLUS stereo integrated amplifier headphone output. With a Beyerdynamic DT 800 there is no challenge; the MC66AE is a real winner! Sound is extremely well balanced and i'm not tired neither after 2hours of continued listening.

Like other tubes product this amp requires to be preheated at least for 15 minutes.
